Srinagar, June 15 (KNO) : Parents are up in arms against the management of Delhi Public School (DPS) Budgam for closing down the school for second straight day over some internal bickering with staff. The parents told KNO that the school management has put the students at the receiving end by closing down the school on working days. The staff members on Thursday had decided not to take any class until their demands are fulfilled by the management. The bus drivers have also conveyed to the school management that they won’t ferry school children unless their demands are fulfilled. Meanwhile on Saturday, the former Union minister and senior Congress leader Saif-ud-Din Soz was on Friday heckled by the parents during his visit to school. As Soz was leaving campus the parents surrounded his vehicle forcing Soz to disembark his vehicle before leaving his campus. After facing protests, Soz left the campus by foot and boarded his vehicle near gate of the school. "The school has taken future our kids for granted. And nobody is listening to us. They are treating parents as low class,” a parent told KNO. Parents also raised slogans against DPS Budgam management and Soz. An official in DPS Budgam told KNO that the teachers were demanding increment in their monthly salary for which they have decided to boycott the classes. “Teachers have gone for pen down strike due to which the management has deci to close the school,” the official told KNO. Some drivers are also on strike over the denial in the increment in their salaries. However parents complained to KNO that the school management has failed to maintain proper atmosphere in the institution. The parents sought intervention of the divisional administration into the matter. The spokesman of DPS Budgam said they have convened meetings with the staff on Thursday and Friday as well. "We had to continue with the closure as the teachers didn't agree to end the strike," the spokesman said. "Dear parents we regret that the school Will not open tomorrow( (Saturday). We are trying our best to resolve the issue,” reads an automated message sent to parents on Friday evening. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Budgam told KNO that the issue has been resolved. "The management has resolved the issued and we are expecting that school will start routine classwork now," she said. (KNO)
